Connecting your external tools is as simple as to any other JDBC datasource:

Driver does not support logging in through USER and PASSWORD properties. Use JIRA_USER and JIRA_PASSWORD for that. |
Driver itself connects to Jira through HTTP(s), very similar to using REST API. So it should be every proxy and NAT friendly. |
